Gurdwara Sahib Silat Road

The British in India had found the Sikhs to be brave and loyal soldiers. They brought the first Sikhs to Singapore to serve in the Sikh Police Contingent in 1881. The pioneer Sikhs set up 2 Sikh Temples (Gurdwaras) in Pearls Hill and Tanjong Pagar.

Central Sikh Temple

ornament1 In 1912, with the assistance of a Sindhi merchant named Wassiamull, a group of Sikhs bought a bungalow with a large compound at 175 Queen Street and turned it into a gurdwara.

Sikh Centre

ornament1Established in 2000, Gurdwara Silat Road Sikh Centre, also fondly refered to as the Sikh Centre is a 7-Storey building with facilities catering to the needs ofthe young and old alike.
